I agree with you and feel that many couples--not all--- are enthralled by the pictures, the honeymoon, and the reception, rather than beginning of a relationship. I am at a loss about what to do about that.

This story has SO much potential. Here are some suggestions:

1. The hook is weak as it simply tells what most people already know. Craft your hook with a bang... e.g. "My heart stopped when I saw the word BRIDE". Immediately, the reader wants to know WHY?

2. Share a small portion of your own story. Get the reader to feel the disappointment you felt, the betrayal, etc. Pull the reader into your pain.

3. Develop the theme as to why Jesus is the only perfect bridegroom! Make that your focus, rather than the failure of marriage in our fallen world!
