Peacock feather hunting became a pass time after school hours. I gathered a number of feathers, but I was never satisfied. There were always too small. Apart from that I actually did not know which type of feather was needed. Most of the feathers that I collected were down feathers. After keeping them for years in a safe place, I threw them away. That ended my obsession with peacock feathers.
Twenty years later after I had forgotten my obsession with peacock feathers, a peacock graced the premises of my workplace. Every day like clockwork it arrived and walked the grounds after 9 hrs in the morning, at 12 noon and just before 5 p.m. It would wander around and eat the vegetables the Gardner was tending to in the backyard. One thing that I noted was that although it came every day, it never shed a feather. At least I never got to see one. I would search the grounds but not find one. If the peacock did not turn up for a week, I would get concerned.
One day as I waited hoping to see the peacock arrive, I saw it at a distance. A cat was trying to chase it. The peacock turned around and spread out its raised tail feathers. It turned around majestically and I saw how bright and colourful it was. My quest for a peacock feather ended that day despite picking up a feather. God had made the peacock beautiful for a purpose. Maybe the many eye spots frightened the cat. It did not go near the peacock again. Each feather did its work to protect the peacock. Jewellery enhances the beauty of a woman. Feathers protect birds and make them beautiful.
Job 39:13 (KJV) Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? Or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?

As a little girl when I went to the zoo with my mom and dad, I'd love seeing the Peacocks. And I actually got to take a couple of them home. I had them for years.
Thanks for sharing this with us, well done,
