the sun shines through the trees
alarms bells are ringing
Oh, Lord, just another hour PLEASE.
Coffee and chat, plan the day
Packed a lunch, and coffee flask
hubby to work, now peace shall reign
Till four feet will come running, down the hall.
Quiet time with Jesus
Reading of his life
Helping other people
Making people whole.
Silence is broken,
The twins are awake
Bouncing madly on the bed
my tea, now over the sheets.
Breakfast is ready
arguments reign
A bowl of Rice Krispies
A plate of bread and jam.
Clothes on the floor
What shall we wear
Pretty or smart
Casual or cool.
Shopping trip next
Amidst all the groans
A party looms near
So, what can you do?
Where are my keys
Where are the twins
Up to no good
Keys found, under the bed.
Slow-moving snails
Resembling cars
Crashing of trolleys
In the Asda's store.
Back to the house,
For a manic clean
Toys back in boxes.
Floors clear at last.
The party is here
And so is the noise
Children run wild
Happy and free.
Balloons are popping,
The dog is barking
Only an hour
Till they all go home.
Two sky-high children
Off to the park
To burn off the sugar
That’s driving their brains
Finally, tired, and ratty within
Tea, bath then bed, a story is read
Gone is the energy to bounce around
Finally, this day will come to an end
A much-needed wine
And an hour of peace
Till hubby walks in
“And how was your day”
He listens with awe at my busy day
Then shakes his head, with a smile he says
“I knew you could do it
