God wants us to have an abundant life; God does not want us to die. From the very beginning, commands are given to Adam and Eve on what fruit to not eat, because God didn’t want them to die (Genesis 2:17 NIV). The strict instructions given to Aaron and his sons for the Tabernacle were given “so they would not die” (Leviticus 8:35 NIV).
God is holy and just, and cannot allow sin in His presence. Because of God’s great mercy and grace, sin offerings were commanded so the people could live. The ultimate offering was given by God’s one and only Son, Jesus. By trusting God to do what He said He would do and obeying the commands given by Him, we may live an abundant life.
The motivation for God is love. God loves us so much that He made Himself known to us, He had His Word written out for us, and actually came to earth to live among us and then die so we could be saved. God does not want us to die…He never did. God has done everything possible for us to live with Him for eternity. Jesus is the way to trust and obey.
