His blood dripped from his back as the soldiers beat Him. The men put a crown of thorns on His head. The thorns pierced His forehead, the blood dripped down onto His face and into His eyes.
Then they made Him walk up the hill. He was so weakened from the treatment He received, the soldiers called a man standing by to carry the cross.
The path up the hill was spotted with His blood. When they got to the top the cross was on the ground. They made Jesus lay down on the cross. I could visualize the soldiers pushing Him roughly. Then the nails were hammered into His hands and feet. More red blood oozed out of his body.
The cross was then lifted into the hole. His blood dripped making a circle of red around the cross.
Jesus hung on the cross. They hung Him there to die. The perfect Son of GOD hung on the cross. My heart feels with shame. Jesus was being punished because of what I did.
Why did He do it? Why did He allow them to do this to Him?
Why did He shed His blood in such a way?
I'll tell you in case you have forgotten. He shed the red blood for me and you. Because He loves us so much. His red blood removed the black sin from our heart and made us white as snow.
The shed blood only matters to each one that believes in Him and accepts Him as savior. Although Jesus did this for all mankind. Only those who believe will benefit.
Jesus said seven things while He hung there with the blood sipping out of His body. One was “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” The last words He said on the cross, “It is finished.”
As I thought on these things I bowed my head and wept.
