Mother of Mine

Have I told you lately,
Just what you mean to me?
You've been a light, in times of darkness
Which has enabled me to see

You are that shoulder that I cry upon
Whenever I feel somewhat down
Always giving of yourself so much
I'm so thankful you're around

You always say the right things
When I feel all hope is lost
For me you've been a gift from God
No matter what the cost

I think about you every day
You're always close to me
I can't imagine life without you
I would be lonely constantly

So Mother of mine, this is my prayer
Sent up to God above
I've asked Him to protect you
As you're a friend, and Mother that I love

I know that God will keep you safe
And take good care of you
Because Mother you are special
And because I've asked Him to.

Debra, this was just lovely! Poems about Mothers always hit my heart. Just a quick reminder to watch out when you submit your entries that you don't have your name anywhere on the body of the work. I had to remove your name from the bottom of this entry. The Challenge is anonymous so that the judges can't be accused of being biased in any way toward their friends. If you can always check that you've removed it from your submission, that will be a great help. Sometimes the Judges read the entries before I've had a chance to check them.
