I saw him standing there and decided to walk towards him. When out of nowhere the dark figure appeared, his sudden appearance offset an unbearable headache; I tried hard to focus when thick darkness began to wreathe around me with octopus like arms, crushing my spirit. I tried to wrench myself free from its hold, when an oppressive force started to paraglide towards me like a kettle of vultures circling over fresh carcass. The suffocation reached a saturation point when I managed to whisper “Jesus”. The very mention of his name set the hosts of evil forces unwind like a recalled measuring tape. I woke up with a start, my whole body was covered with sweat, and the nightmare was broken. It was still dark outside; I got out of bed and made my way to my prayer closet. As I spent time in prayer I began to feel the strength seeping back into my spirit. I got up knowing that the battle has just begun.
After breakfast I set off to meet my new assignee. As a courant of the good news, I am tasked with meeting assignees and to give them hope from the Word. This morning Luke 1: 79 was impressed upon my heart.
to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of
death, and to guide us to the path of peace.(NLT)
“Thank you Jesus for coming into our dark world to deliver us from eternal death and for directing us into paths of peace. May I show others this path to true peace today, Amen,” I prayed.
When I walked into the tiny room of the labor camp my assignee came into view. He sat in a corner withdrawn from the other two resident believers in the room. When I entered the other two quietly left the room giving us personal time together. My initial small talk soon turned into words of hope and words of challenge directed towards this seeker of peace. My assignee with doubt enquired if my words were for real? You see for 20 years he has been searching for true peace, he had in the process tried Catholicism, Hinduism, and atheism and then strangely had served a Hindu warlock and helped him build a temple for demon spirits. The deeper he searched the worse he became until he embraced the religion of self destruction through alcoholism mainly in order to suppress his hopelessness and to combat fear. The counseling began to take a toll on me; I could feel the oppressive spirits pressing in trying to stop me from testifying. I prayed in faith for his alcoholic addiction and left him for the day.
On my way out I met the other two converts standing outside interceding in prayer. I smiled with gratefulness, just six months back these two brothers had come to us in search of peace and deliverance. Jesus had set them free and had filled them with His peace. The verse I read this morning suddenly took on a new meaning. Jesus was showing me how he had guided these two brothers into his way of peace.
I wondered about the new assignee, how would things turn out? Experience tells me that in the end Jesus will be the victor. He has the ability to save all men to the uttermost. I started my car proclaiming Psalms 2:8 which says:
Ask of me, and I shall give [thee] the heathen [for] thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth [for] thy possession.(NKJV)
I broke out in praise as I saw in a vision of faith hundreds of converts rushing with joy and freedom into the Kingdom of God.
