Yes, God does know, and He does provide - isn't He great! Great reminder of His faithfulness and our need to believe what He says. Some neat turns of phrase which I enjoyed. For example: "Momma insisted that we may be poor, we may be hungry, but we sure ain't gonna be dirty."

Some minor grammar and punctuation things.

"but when Momma spoke, you DID it."

"…Thanksgiving Day with excitment, expecting to smell …"

"no, threatened with my life …"

and I think you meant "gorging" rather than gouging.

Nicely done.

One more thing to add to that list. "Yaw'll" is "y'all" sorry about being so nit-picky but its a southern thing.

Nicely done, but it does need grammar and punctuation corrections. You use words vividly to create 'pictures' in my mind.
Makes me feel as if I'm right there with ya'll! Great story telling. Thanks for sharing.

I liked the story, but the very first sentence threw me off. Sunday, the day before Thanksgiving. It must be in another country because Thanksgiving is on a Thursday. Yes, it needs quite a bit of editing, but it was STILL a great story!
