Who are our relatives?, What the Bible say about relatives.



My Mother, Brother, cousins, Uncle, Anty, brother or sister in law, all these are worldly terms to identify the relationship with you of your relatives.



The Bible says when Jesus was preaching to people and his mother and brothers came to meet him and his disciples told him, Lord your mother and brother are there to meet you, what Jesus replied to them Mark 3:33-35 And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren?

And he looked round about on them, which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and my mother.



In present days also we can see that there are churches or Denominations who follow this,their brother and sisters who are in fellowship, they considered them as their relatives,because they don't believe in worldly relationship, rather believe in God's words.



In today's life we people are more concerned about our worldly relatives,we immediately give our helping hand if any of our relative is in trouble, but opposite to that we hold back our hand when we hear that our fellow brother or sister from our church is in great trouble.



This is not the teaching of Jesus, why we just ignore his teaching.



Jesus says in Luke 21:16

"But you will be betrayed even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death,



Why Jesus said that if anybody who do the will of god is my relative because if we look into the OT scriptures the Word of God says in Deuteronomy 13:6 If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;



It's natural and a part of human behavior that we tend to trust more on our closed relatives and think that whatever they advise us is correct , at that time we don't even think what the word of God says and ignore the God's advise.



What Micah 7:6, said the same thing said by Jesus in Matthew 10:36,

“A MAN'S ENEMIES WILL BE THE MEMBERS OF HIS HOUSEHOLD".



Whenever there is an occasion in the family, we first call our Relatives or the closed ones, what Jesus said about this, we can see in Luke 14:13-14, 13 But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, 14 and you will be blessed.

Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”



A more descriptive way of Apostle Paul can be seen in Colossians 3:18-21, where our one and foremost relationship is With God, Christ is the Head of the Family and the responsibilities of a Christian have for his family based on his identity in Christ.



Christ is the Head of the Church, he is the Groom, and the church is his bride, he will be coming soon to take his bride.



Today what matter to us is that our earthly relations more important to us rather than a relationship with God, because if I say our earthly relatives is not important then I am wrong on what the Bible says in (1 Timothy 5:8).



We need to remember that Christ came to reconcile our relationship with God, and according to him,whoever does according the will of God is Christ’s Relative.In todays world we are more of self lovers and Relatives or Relations doesn't have any place in our lives, we are not relatives to our worldly relations neither we are relative to Christ,Jesus knows that we only care for ourselves we don't bother for others,we love or care for one and that is SELF.



The parable of the Good Samaritan is a parable told by Jesus in Luke 10:25–37. It is about a traveler who is stripped of clothing, beaten, and left him half dead alongside the road. First a priest and then a Levite comes by, but both avoid the man.



Finally, a Samaritan happens upon the traveler and cared for him.



So who is the actual relative or neighbor in this parable of this traveler who stripped.



The one who does the will of God.
