Topic: PROCRASTINATE (08/04/16)
It is reported that Benjamin Franklin often said
"Don't put off till tomorrow what you can do today." An excellent piece of advice and a good motto for those of us who have a tendency to procrastinate. We do not know what tomorrow will bring so do ‘it' today.

Solomon in God-given wisdom {*Proverbs 6 and **27} warns about counting on tomorrow since we did not know what it would bring. or even if we would be alive then.
*"Don't put it off; do it now! Don't rest until you do."
**"Don't brag about tomorrow, since you don't know what the day will bring."


In her youth, one of my younger sister's favourite line was "I'll do it tomorrow." She was usually too busy reading a good book to care that her daily chores were undone.

As her older sister, I would often do what she had not done because I did not want my parents to be stressed and upset about the dirty dishes, the unclean floor of our home, or the unwashed laundry.

In life, we should not put off enjoying life until tomorrow because we do not know what it holds? So, in my opinion, such things as apologising, forgiving others, showing love to neighbours, smiling, being happy, dreaming and eating chocolates should not be delayed.

In 2 Corinthians {6:2} Paul wrote: "Now is the day of salvation."
Taking this advice further, we must see that today is the acceptable day to accept Jesus as our Saviour because we are not promised tomorrow. In this arena, we live in time. We are given one day at a time. When we die there will be no more time; we will be in the realm of eternity.

According to the Bible, eternity may be spent with the Lord, or not - it's a choice.

At the age of nine, I accepted Jesus as my Saviour and accepted His offer of eternal life with Him. We should never procrastinate on the salvation option.

Thanks for your interesting Challenge entry. I love the amusing note about not procrastinating to eat chocolate! Haha... I also like the observation you made about "When we die there will be no more time; we will be in the realm of eternity." I think humans tend to overlook that. The reason Hell and Heaven are eternal is because there is no time! Great thought. "Behold now is the time - today is the day of salvation".

Simple, but powerful. My mother passed away when she was 59 and it is so true you don't know what tomorrow brings. Thankfully we have Jesus and He gives us more meaning to enjoy life no matter how small things seem. I think I'll go get a piece of chocolate now. You made me smile. Thank you.

This is a good teaching piece about procrastination. You do have one paragraph, though, about enjoying things that are also things that cannot be "put off" since they are commands we must obey since God will be judging us using his word as his guide. We cannot put off forgiving others, smiling, apologizing, showing love to neighbors, as well as the others.

Jesus said, if we were guilty in one area, we are guilty of them all so we have to be very careful with what we choose to procrastinate on.
