Topic: GATHERING (07/14/16)
Vultures smell victims from one mile away
then descend in vast numbers to gorge themselves.
Bees swarm in their thousands to start new colonies
and soon produce honey that we can enjoy.
Flies find their way into garbage cans; somehow they know their food
is there.

In the distance, I see a crowd. People are flocking around a celebrity with love shining in their eyes.
Hungry children hear the word "Pizza" and they rush into the kitchen,
all ready to feast.
Sunbathers go to the seaside to spend a day on the sands. It’s the call of pleasure that drives them.

Clouds come together and provide us shade but "When clouds are full of water, they pour rain on the earth".
Mourners weep at the open graveside when a loved one dies; it’s part of human healing and of the process of letting go.
On Sundays when we congregate to worship Our Lord, we are obeying the wise words of Paul and exemplars set before us.

It is in meeting other Christ followers, in sharing and remembering His death that I find my faith being strengthened. For His Word, His Spirit, His Praises, and His Love propels me onward in this earthly life.

Yes! We have so much hope; for One Day trumpets will sound and His angels will gather His Bride.

Your examples are on topic and tie in nicely with the idea of church gathering and the final gathering of God's elect in heaven. Thanks for submitting your Challenge entry.

I liked how your piece progresses from the earthly to the heavenly, and ends with the reminder that there is another gathering to come. Nicely done.

It gives its gift as a choice.
Variety without wisdom
Choice without thought
And we become the maggots
Left alone in the garbage can.
