"Mellie,I could see the steam coming out of Mummy's ears. She is angry with us for opening her mail" said she.
"We had to know what Daddy had written. If only she would tell us what he was up to." she whispered to her twin sister.
"Let us pray for Mummy and Daddy, Mellie. We do not know what is going on, but it is not good." said Sharon tearfully
"Mummy cries when she is alone. I think Grandma is coming over again today; something is definitely up."responded Mellie.
"Daddy's leaving has placed a lot of pressure on us. The neigbours are talking and it feels like everything about to blow wide open if the truth is not found out soon." said Sharon with a sigh.
"In the letter his address was blocked out and many of the words too. He sent his love and says we were to have faith and that he would be home soon." continued Sharon.
"I think that Daddy is in prison somewhere. Remember that day on the porch. We heard them talking about smuggling Bibles into Russia" said Mellie.
Later that day Pastor Jim came to the house to speak to them all. He confirmed the girls' worst fears. All three of them sat down on the sofa holding hands.
He related what the girls knew in their hearts. Daddy was across the border in Russia and now they had lost contact with him.The underground church there had not been in touch either.
Pastor Jim and the elders of the church decided that they were going to start praying daily until he was released. He said that the congregation of about forty people planned to start twenty four hour prayer untill something happened.
Pastor likened constant prayer to applying pressure; to enable the breaking open of a seal. He said that we were to think of a sealed envelope inside which was a precious priceless document. Daddy is the document.
In order to retrieve the contents, the seal that holds the flap down must be carefully opened to allow the document to be removed safely. A very efficient way to do this would be to steam it open because it leaves no trace.
"Our prayers of faith to God would act like hot steam" Pastor said. "Faith and prayers will break open seals, strongholds or any locked gate that is holding your Daddy in."
We believed his explanation and we began to pray daily that God would protect Daddy and do miracles. About a month later we received word that our father had been smuggled into Estonia. The Christians there were looking after him and he would be home soon.
Mellie and Sharon were so very happy.
"Mummy, Mummy, now he will return home to us! Thank God.
Maybe one day he will write a book about his mission trip." Sharon says to her quietly. Muummy said nothing but they knew that she was happy too. The last weeks had been hard ones for them.
