Why do you stay when you know should leave?
Is it because you’ve been deceived?
Or the fear of a future unforeseen?
You must trust that God will be there to guide you through
So you can be free to enjoy the abundant life He promised you
John 10:10 (NKJV)
Listen
When you pray
Listen to what God has to say
Before you decide to do things your own way
You’ve ask Him for direction
So don’t walk away in your own self conceived perfection
Allow Him to guide you into what you truly need
Instead of your secret desire only to succeed
Proverbs 2:10-11 (NKJV)
Learn
It is must that I get up and pray
To hear from you the right words to say
For only you know the outcome of this day
So I must trust you with every decision I make
Knowing my very purpose is at stake
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)
I’ve had to apply the three above mention words on a daily basis in order to sustain in life. A life of trust and obedience to God. I’m constantly learning to leave situations (jobs, relationships, decisions, etc.) under His guidance in order to listen to what He’s trying to tell me. And that “what” is the thing I prayed about, asking for His guidance and direction. I realize some of my prayers were not really prayers, but only my pride requesting His validation on my own decisions.
Trust includes accepting defect and temporary setbacks. I must accept the fact that I will mess things up, but also realize He still loves me because I’m His child. The key word is “child” (an immature person), still learning. As a parent, my children didn’t always trust and/or obey the instructions I gave them. Because they couldn’t see beyond the right now, there was a fear of the unknown. But my guidance and direction was based on their future, not the present. God is doing the same with me, but my childish ways can hinder what He created and predestined for my life. Romans 8:28 (NKJV)
As I look back in hindsight, when He instructed me to leave; I couldn’t wait till my fear subsidized, I had to “do it afraid”. When I left, I was able to listen and learn from Him without the distraction of the atmosphere l left behind. I use to think, I must trust before I can obey. But my obedience to Him, made it easier to trust Him.
My revelation of God’s love includes leaving, listening and learning. And when I consistently apply these daily, I’m pushed closer to my purpose.
For me trust is…Taking Refuge Under my Savior’s Tent.
