Chilled winds brushing against our faces, drafts of cold air pouring down our necks and hands feel like ice sickles, old man winter is upon us. Summer, but a memory and the scent of fall leaves burning lingers in the air.
The campfire pit is still empty until the first fallen snow; deer gather in the yard as we hear the echo of gunshots sound in the woods. The halo around the moon reminds us of approaching storms, winter is here.
Keep stoking the fireplace, settle in as we sip on hot chocolate…watching old movies and warming our noses. Listening to the harsh cold winter winds as it bends our trees, swaying back and forth. A good night to warm up and play some pool as the snow accumulates outside our door.
As we cuddle in our warm beds, feet cold and arms drawn close to feel the warmth our bodies provide, we go to sleep. The brightness of morning awakens us to uncertain depths of snow, and drifting as the winds beat upon our home. Stepping into my warm slippers, throwing on my robe I gaze outside and watch the glistening snowflakes dance as they are gathered upon the ground.
Time to play outside, or to stay warm and read a good book, hmmm, I wonder which I will choose? The days are short, but winter is long and many days like this are ahead; it is up to me to make the most of old man winter, will I choose to participate and make the most of this cold season, or be a quiet observer and muttle through, only to wish for warmer weather to come.

This is Honesty so beautifully said, for I see the beauty of what is written. I am not good in grammar and I know all this stuff is important too. I am thankful for Marilyn, Jan and others who are excellent too in critique and give us value suggestions. Thanks so much for sharing this Beautiful piece. I am not good at singing or writing, but I think this is well said. God Bless, Helen
