The unattainable when you touched me
It was the depth of ache in love’s first abyss
Blue was the whisper you left in my ear,
The pulse,
The picture frame of time standing still
Blue was the masquerade of passion
Running through my veins
The shadow that walked in my footfalls
Hiding all but my eyes
It was to me the light’s refraction of heaven,
And the hope that we could touch it
Blue became the lines of the letter
And the holes left growing on my heart
It was the message
Empty hands left holding
The package of unrequited love
Blue was the sound and the song
Of my being breaking
Inside it’s frozen expanse
It was the lostness
Essence of memories
Blue held heaven
Surging tides of promise
To fall in circles of time
Blue forgiveness
The richness
To wash over
The depths of goodbye
