A stiff wind is blowing, carrying the sharp scent of rain. Indigo clouds hang low, like puffy bowls, from the heavens. The sun is not yet set, but in an infinitesimal space of time, darkness drops like a shroud of obscurity, extinguishing the lingering rays. The air becomes charged with tension as the trees bow, doing homage to each other in the unyielding wind. The atmosphere tightens, holding its breath, frantically seeking release.
The air is still. Only the melodic dripping disturbs the silence. The earth is saturated, giving forth an odor of renewal. The heavy clouds have been replaced by impossibly piercing rays of sunlight. They fall on the earth as if to reassure its occupants: “It is good. It is a necessary terror to experience.” A deep peace and feeling of well-being settles over the land. The atmosphere exudes a fresh start that only comes on the heels of a storm.
