The breeze that kisses her hair and the spring water that touches her feet reminds her of a hope which can be seen in the eyes of Love.
As she sits on top of the mountain she carefully rolled her eyes on the tiny houses and little people that she can see.
She opens her palm and imagined as though she can fit everything on her palm and cuddle it on her chest and never again this world would feel pain.
Yet things don’t seem to go as how she wants it to.
Years ago, she is drowning with the deceiving power of alcohol and the blinking lights are her life. She turns to men night after night being pained by the love these men can give that only last for a moment. Smoking is the every air she breaths. Drinking is the blood that keeps her alive.
She grew up in a family of unfortunate people. Her mother spent her time drying fishes under the sun while her father caught them. The income of the family revolved around it. At the age of eight, being the eldest of seven, she learned to stand on her own feet. She took the dried fish to the market and sold it which made an additional income for the family. The more she works the more she is being dragged away from school. She’d rather work to send her siblings to school.
One great opportunity came knocking on her door when a woman offered her a job in city. A job so promising she can’t say no. She ventured and gambled with it.
To her surprise, she became a whore.
She wished every evening her life would change.
One day, a woman same age as she is came to her from where she is standing and talked.
“How are you?”
“I’m fine. What made you ask?”
“Why are you here?”
“You, why are you here?”
“Just passing through. Say, do you
happen to know someone who can take away all sorrow?”
“No. But if there’s one, I sure love to meet him.”
“There is. He is Jesus Christ, the very reason why I am here.”
“He is! How?”
“He died on the cross for my sins but not only mine, yours too. I don’t know where you are with your life but for sure you are not happy with it. Only when you accept Him to run your life will you receive happiness. Do you want to be happy?”
She did not reply back ‘cause tears started to fall from her eyes. Every word that woman said was so penetrating she wants to run away. But the more she stayed the more she became engulfed by the truth.
That woman prayed for her and everything turned upside down. The once discouraged one found new hope. That hope is in Christ.
This is the beginning of a new found life in Christ and the end of the old filthy life.
Glory be to God.
