Birthdays. We all have them. They come once a year, whether we want them or not. They are the milestones by which we mark our lives.
For most of us, birthdays are times of great celebration. Often they are accompanied by cake, presents, and parties. For some, like my children, they are days that are looked forward to all year long. Yet, when we really think about it, shouldn't every day be treated like a birthday? Just like the day of our birth, isn't every day a new beginning? When my kids have had a particularly rough day, I always remind them that tomorrow is a new beginning. It's a clean slate. It's one of God's greatest gifts to us. Each day gives us the opportunity to start life all over again, regardless of where we find ourselves.
Each day comes with an abundance of gifts. Look around at all of God's gifts in your life. He showers us with presents each and every day.
Each day, then, is a celebration of life. Each day is a new birth. So instead of celebrating your life just once a year, start making every day a celebration, and give thanks to God for the beautiful gift of life.
