Tall, dark walls Between me and Thee.
Where do they come from?
Heavy Bricks; very thick bricks Between God and I.
Walls layered with fear, and lack of prayer,
Built with bricks of unbelief or insecurity.
Tall, stark walls Built by me—Not Thee.
Rough Bricks; fat, gray bricks Built through a Lie.
Walls darkened by hate, painted in a lack of care.
Stacked bricks of grief and rebellious dis-conformity.
So heavy; these tall walls, blocking me, clinging to me!
So hard; these thick and heavy bricks, stacked too high.
Walls filled with pain, raw from a lack of His Word.
Bricks made of hurt—bricks made of vengeance.
Pretty walls, stalking me, defeating me.
White washed walls to surround me; waiting to die.
Beautiful walls, gilded bright with deception.
Decorated bricks, carved by a craftsman.
Let not these walls stand between me and Thee!
I will not build this wall of sin between my God and I.
