“Good morning class, my name is Mia Bryant.” The striking blue eyed, blonde headed woman said, as she stood at the podium looking at the eager faced students that had signed up for this semesters art class.
“I am very excited about teaching this college course and hope that by the time we are finished you will have gained a sense of how important you are as an artist.”
Moving away from the podium, she stood beside three white sheet covered easels.
“A writer for instance, tells a story through detail and description of something they have seen or experienced. They set the mood and setting with craft, style and creativity so that the reader can experience the same.
“An artist, such as you and I, see scenes, people or have experienced something that touches our hearts in some way that we show on canvas “as” the story of why we were drawn to the portrait we painted.”
The first portrait Mia revealed was one of a little girl dressed in a frilly white dress that was trimmed in soft pink satin, along with a pretty pink sash at her waist. Brown ringlets of hair rested atop the crown of her head. She looked like an angel, perhaps at first glance. However, Mia captured the mischievous sparkle within the child’s molten chocolate colored eyes.
“This painting is my youngest niece; I titled her picture, of course, Innocence.”
Mia’s statement brought a few chuckles from her students, as well as herself.
“I call this one Along My Journey of Life.” Mia smiled again, as she looked to the adapt students whose gazes were glued to the portrait displayed. It was a portrait of the sea tossing a ship about, so small against the rising waves, and swirling clouds of black above.
“This painting represents a crisis within my life. At the age of twelve, I was diagnosed with cancer. I felt like everything I had worked hard for, all my dreams were crashing down upon me, like that storm raging against the tiny ship.
“And this one is my favorite.” Mia lifted the sheet off the easel.
The painting was of a calm sea. The ships sails were up and flowing with the winds. The skies were still dark and threatening, yet amidst the blackened clouds were two outstretched hands with light pouring from them, as if they were reaching down to grasp hold of the ship.
“I am proud to name this one ‘The Hands that Guide Me along My Journey.’
It represents the change in my life that came from learning about Jesus Christ and his love for me. Before, in Along my Journey of Life, I was lost in my sin, and the horror of having cancer, but someone pulled me out of the chaos that ruled my life and told me that God loved me so much that He gave his only Son Jesus to the Cross, where he died for me, saving me from sin. All I had to do was accept His Son as my Savior.
I captured the beauty of My Savior working in my life to carry me through the storms that arise along my journey.
I want each of you to think about this. Today look around you and see what beauty the Master Artist has painted for us. Can you capture that portrait and tell the same story?
“Class is now dismissed.”

I noticed some punctuation errors, which could be cleared up by proofreading, and I don't know what you mean by "adapt students" i one sentence.
You did a good job,and I really liked your title! Thank you for sharing this story! :)
