How could she go on? She had already worked so hard, suffered for so long. She had built the company from the ground up. She respected the traditions of this country. She did everything she could and still she was persecuted for being a Christian. She had to live in hiding, she had to blend in with everyone else when all she wanted to do was proclaim her faith from the mountain tops and tell everyone about the saving love of Jesus Christ.
And now on top of everything, she had to deal with this too. It was getting to be too much. She had watched people she loved suffer with persecution, sickness, and even death. This was nothing new to her. But, it was getting to be too much; she didn’t know how much more she could take.
What had little Sarah done to deserve this? She was innocent, she had done nothing wrong. She was only a baby after all. Her parents loved her; they wanted to see her grow up. That is all that anyone wanted.
“For such a time as this, I have given you the strength.” The voice of the lord drifted through her mind, giving her the strength to try and keep going.
“Lord, I know that I have struggled with the choices that you have planned for my life. Please, keep your hands over me, over my husband, over my family, over little Sarah and her family. Give them the strength to give Sarah back to you if that is your wish.
“And Lord, give me the strength to give my daughter back to you if that is your wish. She is only nine Lord and she is already so bright and she is precious to everyone that she meets. I see so much for her and I know that you have great plans for her as well. Please, heal her body so that she may live her life to your glory. In your name I pray. Amen.”
Feeling better she knew that the Lord was with her. That she would be able to continue in this life and try and bring the knowledge of a loving and gracious Lord to the people of this community.
“For such a time as this, remember, I am with you. I will not forsake you, I will not leave you. I am always with you. At your side, holding your hand, carrying you when you are to weak and weary to walk any further
The life of a missionary is a hard one. You are faced with so many challenges and for those living in the Muslim countries it is even hard. They have to set up their own companies, they have to live in hiding and those Hindu’s who do convert to Christianity are persecuted, thrown out of their families, and they face hardships that we can’t even contemplate.
Not everyone is called to the life of a missionary. God chooses very special people to this life. It is not an easy life. And for those of us he does not call to serve in this way, he wants us to remember to support those he has called in what ever means we can, even if it is nothing more then remembering to pray each day for the brave men, women, and children he has called to serve in countries far away from their families and friends.
