This river represents the fruitfulness of the Holy Spirit and the fullness of grace continuously flowing from the throne of God and signifies that all the happiness of heaven proceeds from that throne. In the bible a flowing river is a symbol blessing and peace. The river of God is always flowing with His blessings, it does not stop, and as Jesus states in John 7:38 Have faith in me, and you will have life-giving water flowing from deep inside you, just as the Scriptures say," CEV. Jesus promised us that we could be conduits of that river bringing God's blessing to the world.
Locks are barriers put up on a river which can be opened or closed at will by the operator. The lock shuts off the river from flowing, so it, in effect, backs up and is higher behind the lock gate until it is released. We have similar locks in our spiritual life blocking off the flow of God's blessing.
Maybe the blessing in which God wants to bathe you is held back because you have yet to open the lock gate called Fear, Doubt, Negativity, Habitual Sin or whatever it is that is preventing you moving on in your relationship with the Father.
The Bible instructs us in Jude 1:20 .. keep building on the foundation of your most holy faith, as the Holy Spirit helps you to pray. CEV. The Bible says in Romans 10:17 ..faith [is] by hearing, but hearing through [the] word of God. ALT. So prayer builds us up in faith, hearing the word preached and also speaking passages out loud to ourselves so that our spirit can hear us proclaim God's Word.
We may find reading out loud to ourselves uncomfortable to do in our culture, however this was common practice in Jesus' time, and the Bible gives us a good reason to do it in Hebrews 4:12 God's word is living and active. It is sharper than any two-edged sword and cuts as deep as the place where soul and spirit meet, the place where joints and marrow meet. God's word judges a person's thoughts and intentions. GW
As we read and apply the word, take hold of the promises of God and grow in faith, we are able to release the lock gate, so that the level of the water can be raised in our life and we can move up-river closer to God, and on the way receive His spiritual blessings.
Pray and ask the Holy Spirit if there are any locks in your life holding back the flow of the river of God and preventing you being the conduit of His grace to your fellow man. Become a torrent not a trickle for the Lord.
