If you like Pina Coladas...and getting caught in the rain...
If you’re not into Yoga...If you have half a brain...
If you like makin love at midnight...In the dew on the cape...
I’m the one that you’ve hoped for...come with me and escape.
A guy named Rupert Holmes wrote that song a long time ago. In it he places an ad in the paper to find a new love because he is bored with his current relationship. He feels that it has gone stale.
No real wonder...They have stopped communicating. You get the distinct feeling that they were drifting apart. He is looking for something fresh and romantic. She has become routine and predictable. Or so he thinks. So he places his ad.
As the song progresses, he asks for all the things that he thinks are new and exciting. He is surprised when his own lover answers the ad.
We listen to the song and we nod our collective heads knowingly and we smugly think that it could never happen to us.
How is your love affair with the Lord going? Do you still hang on His every word like you did when you first met Him? Have you let other things take you away from Him? Do you talk to Him all the time? Do you spend time alone with Him every day?
Come on. I know it’s still there burning inside you. Fan the glowing coal of your love for Him until it’s once again a raging, all consuming fire. Read your Bible. Talk to other Christians. Meditate. Pray. Praise Him. Place an ad to Him in your heart that tells Him how much you love and adore Him. He’ll answer it.
Two thousand years before Rupert Holmes existed, The Christ placed this ad to YOU...
“I’m the One that you’ve hoped for...Come with Me, and escape.”
