when he had Izzac at hundred
and Father of many nations
he became: a promise fulfilled
Their pain reached its crest
The Lord came to give them rest
displayed His powers through plaques
Wicked Pharaoh and army:He quashed
Zechariah and Elizabeth
,advanced in age; yet she gave birth
to John the Baptist who helped
many people turn to the Lord
In His zenith He died
for me, a wretched soul
on the cruel Roman cross
His love I can't comprehend
Elliot ventured into the Aucas
with four friends, armed with His love
They martyred to found His Church
Were they not in their prime?
If my life was at its zenith
would I differently live?
Would I boldly take more risks
and readily in God believe ?
If I missed the peak of life
what would I do to redeem
the lost and wasted years?
Would I wait or finish the race in style?
Would I shake my fist at the sky
in anger and pouted and plowed
through the mess on my agenda
Thus, strive to be the captain of my life
If a second chance were given
to live my life at its acme
Would I promptly arise
to serve Him more joyfully?
Mysterious God who surprises
whose paths lead to strange peaks
over and over my temporal life
Would I scale them more willingly?
Flawless are Your words
Perfect are Your ways
You shield me from the mess
You're my heaven on earth
