Give your burdens to the Lord, and He will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall. Psalm 55:22 NLT
Our family decided to ride the aerial tram up the mountain while vacationing in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. We trudged slowly uphill thousands of feet while standing tightly packed in a car with one hundred nineteen other passengers. We each held onto a strap dangling from the ceiling for stability. However, my twelve-year-old daughter was too short to reach a strap so she just widened her feet for a better of base of support.
The sun shone brightly and our adventure offered great views of beautiful houses nestled cozily along the mountainside. The ride was mostly smooth but several times, our tram dipped and swayed, causing my daughter to become anxious. Each time we hit a bump, she would cling tightly onto my arm for safety.
“I don’t like the way this makes me feel. I feel like I’m falling,” she said with a nervous look in her eye.
I comforted her as much as possible and before long, our twenty minute ride was over.
Thinking back on our vacation tram experience, I am reminded of my daughter’s need for support when she was fragile and scared. She needed to know I was her strong pillar of stability but also there for emotional support as well.
Sometimes, I, too, am fragile and weak. I need to clench onto my Lord and Savior for help. Circumstances beyond my control throw my world into a tailspin. Mistakes I make in relationships threaten to cause me to stumble. Sin in my life causes chaos in my world. But through it all, God promises in His Word to be there to hold onto me, never letting me fall or be shaken.
He wants me to trust Him completely, divulging all my secrets and worries to Him. The same strength of the Lord who nourishes me, keeping me alive, is also powerful enough to carry all my burdens as well. He is enough to hold me up, even when I feel as though I’m falling into a pit of worry and despair.
Let God support you through all those volatile “tram rides of life” that you face. Cast all your cares and burdens on Him today. His strength is sovereign enough as to support you emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually, never letting you fall from His grasp.
“Lord, thank You for blessing me with Your love. I am thankful for the ability to come to You anytime to share my thoughts, feelings, and struggles. Help me to remember You are always there to provide strength and stability in my fragile world. Remind me to always trust You as You will never let me down. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
