Topic: Write for the HUMOR Genre (10/09/14)
On the evening of the first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them. The disciples, were just staring at him.

Then Jesus yells out, “Whaaats uuup? Peace be with you my brothers. Hey, check this out, look at the gash on my side, pretty sweet huh? Look at the holes in my hands. I guess I won’t be juggling figs anytime soon. And I guess this also makes me truly holy now. Come on you guys have to lighten up, where’s your sense of humor?”

The disciples were still just staring at him. All of them now with cartoon eyes. Then overjoyed by being in the presence of the Lord again they began to cry.

Jesus says to them, “Stop your babying, you look like a bunch of sobbing old ladies. I told you that I would be back. Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you. I have to tell you I wish you guys were all dead like me so you can feel how I feel. I feel so free; death has been very exhilarating for me. I’d ask you to join me, but I need you to stay on earth right now."

And with that Jesus breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”

Nathanael in moment of desperation leans into Peter and whispers, “That was more like a sneeze than a breath. Should we be concerned about catching some kind of death germ?” Peter looks back at Nathanael and says, “Jesus is right, stop your babying and pay attention for once.”

Now Thomas one of the twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”

Not totally convinced Thomas says, “Yeah, yeah, yeah. Isn’t that special, that’s just great. Well until I see the nail marks in his hands and put a finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it.”

A week later his disciples were in the house again, and this time Thomas was with them. Again though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”

Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Come on don’t be scared, just do it. Stop being such a little doubting Thomas.” The other disciples are now yelling, “Yeah Thomas come on, stick you r finger through his hand.”

A little hesitant and a little frightened Thomas steps forward and places his hand into the slice on Jesus’ side. Jesus looking down at Thomas he says, “Good, now put your finger through my hand.” Thomas does what he’s told and there is now silence in the room. I still can figure out how he didn’t soil himself.

Jesus glances around the room and then looks at Thomas again and shouts, “Let’s dance!” By the look on Thomas’ face, he truly didn’t know whether to laugh, cry or scream. Jesus quickly twists his waist and locks Thomas’ hand inside of his wound. Then Jesus grabs Thomas’ finger with his other hand so he can’t pull it out of the hole in his hand.

Jesus begins to sing in Hebrew and starts dancing in a circle. Thomas had no choice but to follow him. Jesus now laughing and singer louder signals to the others to join in. The disciples circle around Jesus and Thomas and begin to clap and start singing themselves.

After ten minutes or so Jesus stops to catch his breath. Everyone is now laughing and clapping their hands as Jesus lets go of Thomas and Thomas says, “Lord that wasn’t funny.”

With a smile Jesus answers, “Truly I tell you, it was. Remember gentlemen, you must remain in me and I in you. Together we can do many things, but apart we can do nothing. You must always believe.”

Still in a circle, each one with a cup of wine in their hand, Jesus holds up a loaf of bread, blesses it and gives thanks. Finally Jesus tells them, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

I am so glad I was not in that room. I think my faith would have been greatly challenged. An interesting way at looking at Jesus as a comedian.

I reckon Jesus had a much greater sense of humour than a lot of us would give him credit for, so congratulations on your profile of the period before he ascended.

Well written and very imaginative. I truly believe that the Lord has a sense of humor...half the things that have happened in my lifetime had to be by a God with a sense of humor!
