Living for a God-filled home,
though the days are dull, un-new;
For her working husband,
the one she’s committed to;
For her crying babies
and their rocking’s late at night;
For her quarreling little ones
and their needs with every fight;
For her disagreeing teens,
one flirting with rebellion,
Who broke the rules, was caught on sight,
now court-charged as a felon.
She fights these battles on the front
with her Lord in aching prayer,
Then cooks and cleans her little home
with duty's cheerful, loving care.
With unexpected visitors
she allows her time to spare,
And thinks not twice to help
church, friend or county fair.
She’ll not have her independence,
or be known through out the land,
Because her soul delight is
serving Home the best she can.
I do not think I understand
this commitment that she holds,
And yet I pray that some day
He might form me for those molds.
Because I’m slowly seeing
how noble is this call,
To be a lady of the Lord,
despite curses from the Fall.
And now I know the Unsung Hero
is the heart of no one other,
Than the kind, strong, loving will
of a devoted Mother.
