Lord, plants are so much easier to care for than people. Flowers and bushes don’t hurt your feelings. Petals and leaves don’t betray your love and grow underground instead of above. Gardening is simple and yields great results with so little effort. Lord, You made all your green creation to bear exactly true to its parent. There are few surprises in a garden without marauding pests. Of course, in heaven there are no thorns or bugs, right, God?
If I follow You closely, Lord, and obey Your Word, can I have a garden in heaven to call my own? I know some people talk of their mansions in the sky, Lord. I would much rather have a lush, botanical palette of color to fill my world in the hereafter.
What’s that, Lord? I don’t have to do anything but love You to receive my mansion in heaven. Nothing? But I promise to go to church every week, give of my earnings and even be nice to that wretched woman with the foul mouth who lives down the street.
Yes, Lord. I know you promised to provide my every need but, Lord, I want to be sure You know how much I want a heavenly garden. Oh, well, Lord, I never thought about that. You say heaven is a very different kind of place from what I know. But, God, I thought if I had an eternity I could play in the garden some. I’ve worked so hard and struggle all these years. Can’t I just idle my time away with the lilies and the begonias?
Oh, well yes, Lord, I want to do whatever You ask. Serve You in heaven too? Of course, Lord; You know I will gladly do that. You do? You have better plans for me than I can imagine or dream. Hmm. My dreams are pretty extensive, Lord. Oh, You know that. You put them there. Yes, that does change things a lot.
Okay, Lord. I will simply trust You, even about heaven and the desires of my heart. And I do remember now that You mention it, Lord. Your Ways are higher than my ways.
I wonder if that means my garden will be bigger than I think?

Nice contrast between the first and second paragraphs: your heavenly garden so easy to care for and the 'people garden' here on earth where we can be hurt so much just by caring.
This was a pleasant article to read.
