TITLE SAVIOR LET ME BE------
Music has been a part of human culture from pre-historic days. In every country we hear different rhymes, rhythms and musical instruments played to express emotions through music and dance, both in times of joy and sorrow. People with musical talent are able to work together and put on recitals that are a feast to the ears. The harmony and melody is always uplifting and a great stress reliever.
Our Heavenly Father loves to hear music that ascends from our hearts. The Bible has numerous references asking us to sing praises to our God. There will be singing in Heaven too, as we worship Him. (Rev 5:9. ASV.) So whether we are talented or less talented let the Lord hear vocal and instrumental music from our joyful hearts. Paul in Eph 5:19. AVS. encourages us to make a melody with our hearts to the Lord, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs.
Children who play the piano can testify that it is not an easy skill to master. Repetition, repetition and repetition till the piece is perfect. Unlike the musical instruments we need a joyful heart happy and prepared to sing His praises. Stress and tension will be reflected and the melody is not joyful. At church on Sundays many of us sing and make a joyful noise unto the Lord. What happens to us during the week?
With the hymn writer let us pray, “Lord, make my life to be like a melody EVER sounding out the message of the cross.” We who have tasted that the Lord is gracious, know for certainty that the message of salvation and eternal life through Jesus Christ never changes. He will give us the ability to make a joyful melody even in times of sickness, sorrow and pain. Remember all the members of an orchestra have to focus their gaze on the music director and his gestures, only then will their music harmonise. Let us turn our eyes upon Jesus and look on His wonderful face. Then the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace. We need to exalt HIS precious name individually and collectively. May the Lord help us to be a melody for Him.
