TITLE: Securely launching | Writing Challenge

The wind nudged branches and tugged at fluttering leaves of a hanging birch. One branch poked repeatedly into a nest pushed up to the trunk where Momma bird poised at the edge of her home. 
"Are you sure you're ready for this, my sweet Boo?"  
"Momma, I flew three times around the nest. All by myself."
“Yes, you really have that spunk!” Momma bird tugged at her daughter's hanging feather.  
"Momma, I can take care of myself." 
"I believe you, but sometimes you’re a bit bird-brained." She winked and pecked her little beak. A passing cloud drew her attention.  “Well, it's time then." Nudging her over to the edge, she drew back a tear. 
"Momma, I will see the whole world. Maybe I can even find someone special just like Daddy." The sun moved behind a cloud which stretched shadows over the tree.  She looked back. "Maybe I might need someone with me to start?" 
"Of course, I'll fly with you until you're sure."
Flapping her wings to push out the tension in her heart, she jumped to the edge. "Here I go!"
Momma bird watched for a split second until her wings spread out in flight. Then she dropped and rose again to the height of the nest, returning once again to her perch. The sun reflected off her daughter's beautiful plumage as she flew higher and higher. 
After many protracted minutes, the small bird landed. Her chest puffed out and her head held high. "Momma, that was amazing!  I saw the river, the trees and even the city!” She bounced around flapping her wings and then paused.  “But something kept pulling me to come tell you all that I saw. What was pulling me, momma?” 
"That is your love for me.” 
“But I felt like you were right there with me as I flew higher and higher. “
“That, my sweet Boo, is my love for you.”

A great parable. I loved reading it.

I know you were running off to the next article about the 'Great Owl and its community':), but just one bit of red ink, remember to paragraph.
