pining for a son
weeping bitterly
she promises to offer
him to the Lord
Her eyes sparkle
at the sight of baby Samuel
Once a barren woman
a source of shame
and helplessness
Hardly does she realise
Samuel will rise
to be God’s
agent to unite
and free Israel from enemies
No wonder she can rejoice
and stay strong in the Lord
even smiles at her enemies
for the Lord
is her helper and deliverer
Moment of great joy
floods her heart
because of an answered prayer
yet it’s not fleeting
but turns into heartfelt worship
Will my joy be short-lived
when something good
or beautiful happens
Will I linger in gratitude
and worship You all my life
Lest I forget what you have done
but move on
and reflect like Hannah
and turn it into
a heartfelt praise
Father of love
Jesus of grace
and the deep fellowship
of Your Spirit
grant me bursting joy of gratitude that overflows
Accept Jesus as Your Savior Right Now and be Certain of Eternal Life.
