At the slightest pain;
He’d whimper and protest and moan;
The instant retort
To which he’d resort—
Ow! He’d mumble and grumble and groan.
Ow! Willie would whine
His well rehearsed line
At the smallest hint of an ache,
A wee shaving nick,
A little pin prick—
Ow! One mighty commotion he’d make.
All those who knew him
Would snigger and grin
Whenever the drama began—
The most favoured line
Of Willie the Whine—
Ow! Catchcry of the whinging man!
It was quite a sight
To see him excite
The affections of someone new;
His loud “ow’s” of pain
Would sympathy gain—
Ow! If only they really knew!!
One day, sure enough
Like one who cried “wolf”
His whining near brought his demise;
His friends were so used
To his whining abuse,
They ignored his imploring cries.
Hours later they found
Him battered and bound—
He’d been robbed and beaten by thieves;
In time he got well
And he lived to tell
The danger when no one believes.
Now Willie the Whine
Spends all of his time
Warning others not to tell lies--
To never arouse
Contempt with their ‘ows’,
False ‘ow’s’ he’ll forever despise.
