Compelled to hide
Sin corrupted
Stained inside
I cannot bear
That You should see
The darkness now
That dwells in me
So suddenly
I have been hurled
Into a cold
And hostile world
The Garden You
Designed for me
Has now become
My enemy
Nature pricks
And bites and stings
Overwhelming
Sorrow brings
Creation spits
And snarls at me
Undressed of my
Authority
Concealed beneath
My hiding place
I’m haunted by
My own disgrace
I listened to
A different voice
Weighed my options
Made my choice
Forbidden fruit
Touched and tasted
And with one bite
My future wasted
Now I know
My naked state
For Your judgement
Here I wait
I hear You speak
It frightening how
Your voice, once gentle
Scares me now
So tenderly
My name You call
I find I
Cannot hide at all
The sadness in
Your eyes I see
Heartfelt sorrow
Caused by me
You watch me as
I leave this place
It’s You who now
Must hide Your face
So now begins
My search for You
To seek the One
That once I knew
You said in searching
I will find
And live again
With You entwined
Father, seek this
Sin-soiled son
Undo the evil
That I have done
Father, find me
Where I roam
On your shoulders
Bear me home
No more hiding
From Your gaze
I’ll live transparent
All my days
Standing still
Beneath Your light
I’ll trust the blood
That makes things right
