FaithWriters.com news and information for the write-brained Christian!
"Having gifts (faculties, talents, qualities) that differ according to the grace given us, let us use them." – Romans 12:6 (AMP)
Because you're reading this newsletter, chances are you're a writer. The ability to write is something you probably feel God has placed inside of you. God wants us to use those talents He's given us and I believe He is very pleased not only when we use our gifts and talents for His glory, but also when we express our passion for those abilities.
Be sure to check out the Out of the Mouths of FaithWriters section at the end of this newsletter to learn when fellow FaithWriters members realized they had a passion for writing.
So have you been saving your pennies for the FaithWriters conference? I hope so! We'd love to meet you and have you join us for this exciting event. This year's conference promises to be better than ever! Spectacular speakers, wonderful workshops, fabulous fellowship…possibly even an agent or agent's assistant on hand to listen to your manuscript ideas, so start preparing your pitch.
Also new and exciting this year will be an opportunity to get a professional headshot taken by award-winning photographer, Cari Weber (who also happens to be a FaithWriters member!). Use the photos on your book cover, website, or other media outlets. Pretty cool, huh?
Keep watching the official Conference Page for more details, including workshop descriptions, cost, and registration info. http://www.faithwriters.com/conference.php

Message Boards. Connect with other Christian writers in a safe, friendly environment! You may be aware that last month, the FaithWriters forums were upgraded. As a result, the boards have a brand new, sleeker look. We know any form of change can sometimes be difficult, and for those of you who are long-time participants on the message boards, we hope the transition wasn't too rough. It may take a little playing around to familiarize yourself with the new layout, but we're pleased with the upgraded version.
Be sure to check out the new Birthday feature, where you can input your birthday into your profile. All of the birthdays show up at the bottom of the forums so you know who to send birthday wishes to on any given day! OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF FAITHWRITERS
Last month, I asked members to submit their responses to this question:
WHEN DID YOU FIRST REALIZE YOU HAD A LOVE OR PASSION FOR WRITING?
WOW, did a ton of people reply! One thing is sure: writers are passionate about their passion! Because of the overwhelming response, the rest of the answers will be posted on the FaithWriters blog next Monday, March 7th. Be sure to stop by and check it out. www.faithwriters.com/blog
Here are just a few of the answers received:
"In response to the question concerning the love of writing (which contrary to what some may think is NOT the root of all sorts of evil), I believe my passion for writing first awoke when I typed my first skit for our church's "spaghetti western" thirty-some years ago. I've been hooked ever since." - Nancy Bucca
"My love of writing began with my fifth grade teacher, Miss Backlund. She helped me write a poem, "The Mechanical Man" (which I still have). It was through her that I realized I not only enjoy writing but that it is a gift." – Jeff Lambert
"I should thank an estranged writer-friend who prodded me into writing. I was already 10 years past college and was at the cross road on what to do with my life when she told me, I could write. It seemed she believed in my skill more than I do about what I can do. Now, I'm dead set on pursuing it." – Evangeline Custado
"One evening as I was returning back on a dusty road in a rickety bus, I saw the setting sunbeams light up the dust. It was so beautiful that immediately I took a paper and wrote a line 'that God created wind which no one can see and man in his greed colored it.' That sentence became a part of my first poem, which made its way to a school notice board by an enthusiastic student of that school. That encouraged me to write, and I have not stopped since." - Victor Jasti
"I knew that writing was for me when I wrote my wife a Valentine tribute in 2008. Shortly thereafter, I found the Writing Challenge and have been entering every chance I can find the time. I am now getting close to 100 entries in the challenge." - Brian Haugrud
DO YOU HAVE ANY SPECIAL EASTER TRADITIONS?
