After years as an award-winning community newspaper reporter and editor, I left and started my own freelance writing business, Elite Word Design, in September 2001. After almost two years of struggling in the world of commercial freelance writing, I now realize that the Lord wants me to use His gift of writing to bring others closer to Him. Taped to my computer is Proverbs 16.3, "Commit thy works unto the Lord and thy thoughts shall be established." This is my prayer each time I sit down to write an article or story. When I get discouraged, I have a quote from Rhoda Blecker, a Daily Guideposts contributor, taped to my computer screen as well. It reads: "Show me the gift You've given me, Lord, and give me the perseverance to pursue it." My prayer for all of us is that you discover your God-given gift and have the perseverance to pursue it for His honor and glory.
