Some of the greatest names in Scripture spent significant time in the desert. Moses lived forty years on the backside of the desert after living in Pharaoh's household as a son. David lived in the caves while his father-in-law hunted him like an animal. Elijah fled to the desert to escape Jezebel's wrath. John the Baptist made the desert his home for thirty years before he preached the coming of the Messiah.
Like his biblical heroes, Doug Knox is returning from his own desert. In November 2002 he and his wife Marie discovered that she had advanced cancer. Five months later, just before Marie's forty-fourth birthday, he buried her.
Doug writes about these and other life experiences, using them to illustrate the biblical truths he loves to teach. A collection of these expositional devotions will soon appear in book form.
