David lived in the caves while his father-in-law hunted him like an animal. Elijah fled to the desert to escape Jezebel's wrath. John the Baptist made the desert his home for thirty years before he preached the coming of the Messiah. Like his biblical heroes, Doug Knox is returning from his own desert. In November 2002 he and his wife Marie discovered that she had advanced cancer. Five months later, just before Marie's forty-fourth birthday, he buried her.
