Looking Back 6/24/08
Why, at times, do I try to "play God,"
When You do Your own job so well?
It is only in the looking back,
That those times, on myself I can tell.
I thought I was just "helping" a bit,
But I was carrying the load,
That was never meant to be on me,
And in the end results it showed.
"Thy will be done, not mine," I said,
But then off I rushed on my own.
After disaster had befallen,
I saw that to which I was prone.
I fell on my knees, pleading to God,
"Help me to wait on that still, small voice,
"Quell my urges to rush right on in,
"Make me sure what I do is Your choice."
Looking back has taught me some lessons,
That God has allowed for my good,
And I know He is preparing me,
To better know my "could" from my "should."
