TITLE: KIDZ PRAYER COOKBOOK By Manubha Ramdunnie 03/19/08 |
|
I have come across many cookbooks aimed at children, but not many that encourage children to include God even in a simple action of baking or cooking. I believe this book is unique because of its simplicity, effortless cooking methods and cheer to include parents. Children easily relate to parents through simple gestures. This cookbook will surely encourage a bonding process.
Mother’s Day Treat
Today is a special day. It is Mother’s Day. It means you thank Jesus for your mom and what she does for you everyday.
Proverbs 31: 26-28 “She speaks with a gentle wisdom. She is always busy and looks after her family’s needs. Her children show their appreciation, and her husband praises her.”
Here is a simple breakfast treat for this special lady in your life. You can add a pretty flower to brighten the tray or the table. If you made a card for her then display it on the tray as well.
If mom likes juice then pour her favourite juice in a glass. If she prefers a cup of tea or coffee then ask your dad or someone elder to assist you in making a nice cup of tea or coffee for mom.
Remember: always ask an adult to help you when you have to work at the stove, with boiling water or with sharp knives.
You will need:
2 slices brown or white bread or if mum prefers you can use Rye bread
3 eggs scrambled (you can add spring onions to add to the flavour)
2 slices coldmeat of your choice (like ham or chicken)
3/4 slices tomato and cucumber
small cube of butter for frying
Salt & pepper to taste
How to make the treat:
1.Melt garlic butter or plain butter in a pan. Chop the spring onion and add to the butter. Scramble the eggs and add. Cook until the eggs are done.
2.Toast the bread and lightly spread it with some margarine or butter.
3.Put the scrambled eggs over the toast.
4.Slightly warm the coldmeat on the pan or in the microwave, roll it up and put it next to the toast on the plate.
5.Decorate the plate with the sliced tomato and cucumber. Sprinkle dried herbs on the rim of the plate to decorate.
6.Do not forget the salt and pepper to taste.
Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus Thank you for my mom. I ask that you please give your angels charge over my mom to protect her at all times. Please bless her. Thank you Lord for your grace and mercies. Help me to be a good child everyday. I love you Jesus. Amen
