out back by the old pine tree,
where the peppermint grows
and the hoot owl moans.
Just put me naked in the ground –
no need to waste a box because
I won’t deny the hungry earth
the nourishment of my sweet flesh.
Just let me quietly dissolve
into that wonder of sap and bloom
where I will open out
into the universe of infinite embrace
to rise again with the blossoms of heaven
breathing out eternally the fragrance of spring.
