TITLE: Fish Trick

Matt 17:24-18:1 KJV
“And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute
money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?
He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers? Peter saith unto him,
Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free. Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.”

Just a bit of irony as Jesus points out that the temple should be exempt from paying for itself. Jesus was the temple. But that’s not my question. My question has no profundity to it…I just want to know where the fish got the coin? Fish must be some of God’s most obedient servants. I mean really! Jesus tells them to multiply and they do; God told one to swallow Jonah and it does; then tells it where to vomit Jonah out; and now we come to the fish, which swallowed the coin trick! Amazing huh?
Jesus called a few fishermen together and told them they would be fishers of men…now if we could just get men to be more like fish…that’s the catch!
