TITLE: Fortified By Jeremy Iman 06/19/07 |

Steel bars and cages
I sat in the midst
Unaware of sins wages
There were soldiers with rifles
And men riding horses
I made friends with the world
And used all its resources
I prepared for a battle
I prepared my defenses
I sealed every weakness
With barbed wire fences
Then you came with a shout
That announced your arrival
I withdrew my sword
And tempted survival
The sky spit out fire
I launched the attack
But to my surprise
You didn’t fight back
You uttered a phrase
That then forced me to yield
“It’s already over,
By my stripes you’re healed”
I could sift through all time
To whom could I compare?
No mortal touch
Could relieve such despair
You broke through the boundaries
When push came to shove
My fortified mind
Was no match for your love
