TITLE: My Father By Mei Lee 06/18/07 |

The Bible says to rejoice
at all times,
but how do I rejoice
at a time like this?
The Bible says parents are
the pride of their children,
but how can I be proud of my father,
when all his wrongs unraveled
before my eyes?
But if God says to rejoice,
there must be a way,
and a reason why.
And if God says my parents
are to be my pride,
surely there be a reason why
my father, imperfect though he may be,
would still make me proud, to call him
"my father".
Perhaps God doesn't see
the wrongs he had made,
for these are only temporal,
before his stubbornness melt away.
Cause all the price for doing wrong,
His Son had paid.
Perhaps God doesn't see
how far away he is today,
for he is only temporarily
running away from Home.
Cause He knows that in the end,
he will come running Home again.
And perhaps I should rejoice,
for I can see so clearly,
God's hand at work
in an imperfect man's life.
And I will rejoice,
for through God's eyes I see
a man made in His image,
and I am proud to call him
my father.
It is Fathers' Day today,
I shall call my father
just to say "I love you, dad".
Despite the hurt he had caused,
I choose to love this man,
the way my Heavenly Father loved me,
while I was yet imperfect.
Cause only my Heavenly Father's perfect love
can make all things right...once again.
