How much Christ is left in your Christmas?

We have all noticed the trend, each year the holiday season begins a few days earlier. In fact some folks with better time management skills than me begin their Christmas shopping on January 2 each year, maybe even December 25 if they practice re-gifting (ha ha).

There are Christmas cards to sign, address, and mail; parties to attend; year end deadlines to meet at work; visits to Santa for the kids; holiday treats to bake; decorations to put up and holiday lighting displays to visit. Add to that finding the right gift for family and friends without blowing our budget and our stress level begins to rise to a new high.

Soon we find ourselves so overwhelmed, our disposition changes. Instead of smiling and offering warm greetings, we barely notice those around us; other than to feel they are potential speed bumps on our fast pace race to get it all done by December 24th.

We know in our hearts that Christmas is really about Christ coming to Earth as a baby to be the savoir of the world. Yet the worlds influence causes us to put that on the back burner and focus on so much else, that sometimes we leave little room for Christ in our Christmas.

Just as there was no room at the Inn for Joseph & Mary, have we left no room in our heart for Christ? Do we allow the busyness of the season to keep us from giving the most important gift of all?

The gift we give to God, by giving ourselves to Him completely.
