I left wild flowers grow,
the thistle and lowly
rose of sharon
standing side by side
with morning glories, bowing
before queen anne’s lace
and heaven’s grace.
Left winking,
black-eyed susan’s
intermingled
with roaming grape vines ~
left them for the world to see
that drought
and human husbandry
had not left a barren world,
but promises and hope.
