TITLE: Broken and Ashamed By Laura-Jane Martin 10/02/06 |
|
Lord, I come to you broken and ashamed,
Of whom I really am,
You see through this charade.
This wicked heart wants to change.
I felt it once,
Lord let me feel it again.
I’ve talked the talk so many times,
But without my walk Lord,
I’m just feeding them lines
Deep down I believe it,
I know that you’re true,
I need to apply,
Please show me what to do.
My heart is shut tight with lies and deceit,
I’m stopping your love showing to those who I meet
Will the real me please stand up I want to cry,
Who is this person I’m hiding and what’s the reason why?
Continuing in this erratic way,
Like the current that pulls the water away.
I don’t understand,
It’s not making sense,
This gripping fear is growing more intense.
The light that was so clear now slipping away,
The dark dragging me under,
I can smell the decay.
So easy to tell someone that You the Lord is in control,
So hard to feel when you feel your life maybe stole.
What happens to me is not of concern,
My dear little children is where my heart yearns.
My head races with the love of your words,
Whose is this voice now?
Making yours all slurred.
I can’t make out Lord, what you’re trying to say,
These other words are getting in the way.
Words of hurt, anger and shame,
Race through my head and have pushed yours away.
Shout louder Lord I seek Solace in yours,
And from your word is where all love pours.
Your Yoke is easy and your burden is light.
But Abba Father, I’m tired of this continual fight
