TITLE: Heavenly Music By Rogetto Carlossi 07/05/06 |
|
The passing breath of poignant strain,
like mountain mist or morning rain
upon the virgin earth, fertile and green
or snow-capped peaks, distantly seen,
glistening in the shimmering sun
proclaim the Dawn, newly begun,
so doth sweet notes transcendence stir
and make wide open windows ‘ccur
when Heaven pride’s bastion breaks,
a doorway to man’s heart so makes
and tearing down bold edificial wall,
to reason, and humdrum stall
that for only a passing moment quick
by Heaven’s art, not Hell’s trick
enable us, from busy life, step aside,
and see through windows, open wide,
Heaven’s pastures, plains and fields,
blissful Hand from all harm shields,
in Aeolian ether regions high
where snowy peaks pierce purple sky.
O! If only all our lives lived in view of thee,
O great expanse, O mighty Eternity,
but for now by mortal chains are we bound,
save only when we hear Music’s sweet sound,
then and only then may we see,
the goodness awaiting us, the Saved,
in blessed Eternity.
