TITLE: Vices of Man

This is just a short poem that I wrote, mainly for people who like the romanticist poets of the eighteenth century.
Into two vices has man been led
on a day proposed as Thine,
the first is the vice of the bawdy bed,
the second the abuse of wine,
but I declare, upon my soul,
I'll not fall, for by Christ's blood
I am made whole
and sin's been overthrown.
So everemore I'll seek the glorious face,
of Him who did upon my life,
sin's tyranny replace.

The vices of man are an ill-bred brood,
spawned and suckled at the serpent's breast,
so gentle soul, if thou wouldst such sins elude,
and keep thee clear of the devil's nest,
then cling thou to that Holy One,
who for us sent His only Son
to suffer in our stead,
and upon Calvary's hallowed hill,
His blood for our sin's shed.
