TITLE: Old Friend By Patrick McClure 03/26/06 |

Far away from where our memories reside
I busy myself with important endeavors
A corporate ladder where I cling, eyes upturned
A shopping cart of commercial success
New Tahoe, leather seats, subwoofers, and four-wheel drive
Or my condo, new carpet, and a 60-inch flatscreen tv
I get caught in all of life’s lures
And all the while he calls
Gets voicemail and unreturned emails
I fail to connect or come back because
I’m busy, I have so-called life focus to a fault
God calls but doesn’t chase or coerce me
And when I return he hugs, forgives
Sits with salsa and chips to watch a football game like old times
Remember that time when …
Yeah, those were good times
