TITLE: Void By Patrick McClure 03/20/06 |
|
As the corners clash, clank, click
And the money, my job, status won’t do the trick
So I pull tricks with the triangle
But the puff and blow, the needles, pills, and drug trips
Don’t fulfill
And I’m dropped off the cliff, falling, the medication stalling
As my soul remains anesthetized
And the void remains unidentified
Reaching for a trapezoid
I grab and pull back sex in all forms
The fun, the porn, no strings attached and relationship traps
I grabbed for pleasure but held pain in my heart
And all outweighed the gain
After trimming and shaving, cutting, reshaping
the pegs still wouldn’t work
every one fell short of the circle’s purpose
til at the bottom of the pile, waiting patiently
I found a perfectly shaped circle,
Round, relational, forgiving
And fitting my void
The other blocks now void of meaning
My life’s purpose identified, fulfilling
Christ’s peg perfectly fitting
