TITLE: The Grand Nephew By Lynn Seely 01/17/06 |

On August 30th 1949 at 5:32 a.m., I came into this world. Fifty-six years, eleven hours, fifty-nine minutes later, Cadene, my grand nephew followed my lead. God is so infinitely wise, sometimes He lets you glance with knowledge at what He is doing in your life. I look at my little grand nephew and I have no doubt that He put things into progress so that I could share in the wonder of this new baby.
I am able now to see things that I didn’t see with my own two children. My grandchildren’s birth brought tidbits of dawning, but it was surrendering my life to the Lord and receiving new life that I realized the full scope of God’s magnificent gifts.
2Corinthians 5:17 “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun.
Now I am able to look at the wonder of this tiny bundle, and see the miracle that God has performed. What a different outlook a new life can bring when you are surrounded with God’s word. Birth of a new baby or a person’s acceptances of being born again in God’s perfect love are marvelous gifts not to be ignored. So together Cadene and I are traveling life as new born people… he as an infant and I in my maturing with Christ.
It makes me just want to sing at the top of my lungs with joy. Cadene loves it when I sing to him, unfortunately I am totally sure that outside of the Lord, Cadene is the only one that loves to hear me sing. (I guess it’s not totally true, I know all of my grandchildren loved to hear me sing to them when they were babies, I think God gives babies ears that only hear love, nothing off key. Nothing scratchy or flat when someone they love sings to them. But now the grandkids have all grown older and tell me not to quit my day job.) Now once again I am able to “Shout to the Lord” in my z flat voice and be able to look down at the bundle in my arms, and watch as he smiles, and then drifts off into the land of sleep.
I have been given another chance to show a child the wonders of the Lord’s love. This time I am wise enough to know that the first thing he needs to know in his young life is that the Lord will always be with him. That the best thing in life is to grow up in that knowledge… secure with nothing to fear. Always with the Lord… sometimes little footprints walking with Him and sometimes wrapped in God’s loving arms during the faltering times.
Its times like this that makes me marvel at all that is around me. It opens my senses, so that I can comprehend just how powerful and complete Jesus is. His love is never ending and never is on the condition that I remain unfaltering in this life. He knows that just when I should be the strongest that it will be my weakest moment, and that is when I feel His presence the most.
How marvelous that His creations result in an image of colors and textures of the autumn day… Of the child… Of the Lord’s hand with paintbrush and palette using firm strokes of purposeful creation, to display His wisdom with natural flair.
All in preparation to hear the singing of a grand aunt sing of His praises to her grand nephew in her grand voice.
